Mt. Batur Volcano Sunrise Trekking Tour
(with Batur Natural Hot Spring included)
Enjoy the once in a lifetime experience of a sunrise trekking to the top of Mount Batur volcano for a glorious sunrise and stunning morning views.
Mount Batur trekking is the most popular and one of the most challenging trekking activities that you have to do in Bali. It is the most recommended volcano trekking in Bali as seen on Tripadvisor, Lonely Planet and others guide Books. Whether you are in couple, family, group or even a solo traveler, Bali Hai Adventure Tours are ready to organize this special volcano tour for you.
Mount Batur is 1,717 meters high above sea level (the third highest peak in Bali) and considered as one of the sacred mountain according to Hindu belief. It is a semi active volcano located in Kintamani district of Bangli regency. The Kintamani area was once dominated by a massive volcano which created the 3 kilometer wide caldera now occupied by Lake Batur and the active volcano Mount Batur.
The scenery here alone is worth the journey but it is the view from the top that will forever stay in your mind, an experience that you will never forget. The trek to Mount Batur is the most recommended trekking destination in Bali and has been trekked by thousand trekking lovers from all around the world. Mount Batur is also one of the Global Geopark Network in South East Asia located in Bali.
It will take around 1.5 or 2 hours (depending on your fitness level) to climb the mountain. This is perfectly safe as you will be accompanied by a professional local trekking guide. Trekking in the cool, early morning darkness (torches and wet weather gears are supplied, if needed), we begin the ascent (not difficult) to arrive in time to witness a glorious sunrise and experience the stunning morning views of the surrounding crater and lake as well as beautiful landscape panorama of eastern part of the Island.
We will reach the top just in time to see this beautiful sunrise over Mount Abang and Mount Agung, and on clear days it is also possible to see the peak of mount Rinjani which is located far away in Lombok island. Ideally, trekkers should get to the top for sunrise by 6 am, before mist and cloud obscure the view. Packed breakfast (with bread, fruits and steamed egg) will be served as soon as you reach the top of the mountain. Joining you for breakfast, a few monkeys who are playing around the summit, no doubt well fed on leftover breakfasts!
During our descent, we will explore the three younger craters and the most recent lava flows while we take in the amazing volcanic landscape of mount Batur. We followed a different path to the way up. The first half was on steep, slippery rubble. The path continued back through the forest and soon enough, we were back at our starting point.
After trekking you can refresh yourself with a swim in the Natural Volcanic Hot Water Spring pool at the beautiful village of Toya Bungkah on the banks of Lake Batur. You will enjoy the fresh clean air, magnificent scenery and views of the Lake Batur, Mt. Batur and Mt. Abang from the pool. Locker facility is available here. Towel, shampoo, soap, welcome drink and snack are included.
At the end of the trip, we will drive you back up to Kintamani for lunch overlooking the volcano and lake Batur. From there you have a spectacular view of lake Batur and also the view of active volcano of Mt. Batur (the one that you have just climbed earlier in the morning) while enjoying your delicious lunch.
On the way back to your hotel, you can optionally visit Luwak coffee plantation to find out how the most expensive coffee in the world is processed. As this is optional, don't forget to ask your driver that you want to take this option. No extra charge/fee are required.

Note on weather
This tour is an outdoor activity which is heavily affected by the weather conditions. Sometimes the weather might be not as you expected (cloudy, rainy, foggy etc.) which may prevent you from getting a good sunrise view (or delay the sunrise timing). If the weather is really bad, you might do not get sunrise view at all. All those circumstances are beyond our control and we can do nothing on that.
We just want to remind you that you should also prepare yourself for this possibility and we would really appreciate your understanding on this matter.

Incredible trip up Mt Batur, great value for money
Incredible trip, we chose the sunrise hike up Mt. Batur. Great value for money and super friendly staff.
Picked up from Ubud by a lovely driver, provided with a local guide to take us up the volcano in time for sunrise (relatively steep but only 1.5-2hrs up). Breakfast included and little chairs looking out onto the lake and live volcano. We had a stunning moon view and equally beautiful sunrise. There were other groups with their own tour guides, but not at all unpleasantly crowded.
Once back down the mountain, part two consisted of a visit to the hot springs, very pleasant after the hike and because we were swiftly back down, we had the whole hot spring baths to ourselves for 40mins before other guests arrived. Again, stunning view of the lake and volcanoes around. Very serene.
We then had lunch on a small mountainside village called Kintamini, again with a stunning view of Mt. Batur and the lake. Finally we were offered the option of visiting a coffee production site but we declined and were dropped back to our homestay in Ubud. We were back by 11am, after being picked up at 3am. Lots accomplished in a special time of day!
Highly recommend this tour and big thank you to Bali Hai Adventures for a very memorable time!

Great service for the Mt. Batur Sunrise Trek!
I booked a solo tour with Bali Hai for the Mt. Batur sunrise trek, which was more expensive than doing it as a group but still relatively cheap.
The full package included transportation, a packed breakfast, a hiking guide, some water, a visit to a natural hot spring spa, and an Indonesian lunch buffet with mountain views.
I was staying all the way South in Nusa Dua, and they were still very much willing to accommodate me! Had to meet their driver at 1:30 AM at my resort. We picked up a couple staying in Ubud on the way to Kintamani. If you're staying at Ubud, you'll probably get picked up at 2:30-3:00 AM.
I payed via PayPal and confirmed one day before the trek (because I kept watching the weather forecasts) and emailed with Kadek, who was very quick and attentive during our correspondence.
Bali Hai was a great service and offered a good deal for what was included. I made sure to tip my guide and driver well.

Sunrise Volcano Hike
One of the things both me and my friend wanted to do most on our trip was a sunrise hike of Mount Batur, an active volcano in northern Bali. We used Bali Hai Adventure and booked it ahead of time. Our driver arrived right on time and we tried to get some sleep on the drive. When we got to Mount Batur we met up with our private local guide who would hike the mountain with us. You are required to hike with a guide and can not go on your own. Since it was only 4am it was pitch black during the hike and our guide provided flashlights. The first half of the hike was pretty simple, but the second half was very challenging. I have seen sites say that anyone could do this hike, but that is not the case. You are hiking very steep and loose volcanic rock. I was winded and had to stop for multiple breaks.
The hike took about 2 and a half hours and we reached the top about 30 minutes before sunrise, just in time for a small breakfast provided by our tour guide.
After the sunrise we walked around the top of the volcano seeing the thermal features and monkeys who live on the mountain before beginning the slippery hike down. By 8am we were done with our hike and exhausted. Our tour included a stop at a Lake Batur natural hot spring pool. We spent a few hour soaking in the pools, napping and getting some sun before returning to our hotel for a lazy evening.
Definitely a great way to spend the day...
